Halftime Check-In
A Nuggets Fan Perspective
Keys for the Nuggets in the 2nd half:
- Stop missing free throws. Those are gimmes, and if even a respectable amount had been made in the first half, the team would be up by a comfortable margin, rather than down by 2 after a buzzer-beating Derek Fisher tre.
- Play Nuggets style offense more effectively. Namely, every time you hold the ball up in the backcourt too long, you allow the Lakers formidable D to come together. The Lakers are weakest defensively when they are forced out of their comfort zone, and the Nuggets smaller size and quickness is one of their weapons.
- Stop the sloppy defense. A good portion of the Lakers’ points have come from the Nuggets leaving outside shooters open or from failing to stop Kobe. There’s no excuse for sloppy D.
- Calm down, find your shot. After coming out strong in the first quarter the Nuggets are now struggling offensively, and Smith and Billups have not been shooting well.
I wrote this to keep myself from crying after Derek Fisher nailed that three before halftime.
This is all TRUTH.
