Halftime Check-In

A Nuggets Fan Perspective

Keys for the Nuggets in the 2nd half:

  1. Stop missing free throws. Those are gimmes, and if even a respectable amount had been made in the first half, the team would be up by a comfortable margin, rather than down by 2 after a buzzer-beating Derek Fisher tre.
  2. Play Nuggets style offense more effectively. Namely, every time you hold the ball up in the backcourt too long, you allow the Lakers formidable D to come together. The Lakers are weakest defensively when they are forced out of their comfort zone, and the Nuggets smaller size and quickness is one of their weapons.
  3. Stop the sloppy defense. A good portion of the Lakers’ points have come from the Nuggets leaving outside shooters open or from failing to stop Kobe. There’s no excuse for sloppy D.
  4. Calm down, find your shot. After coming out strong in the first quarter the Nuggets are now struggling offensively, and Smith and Billups have not been shooting well.

I wrote this to keep myself from crying after Derek Fisher nailed that three before halftime.

This is all TRUTH.
